In Togo, Jean-Pierre Fabre , the president of the National Alliance for Change (ANC), has begun the last turn of his campaign for the presidential election on agricultural land in the southeast of the country, where we produce cassava and vegetables. On February 17, he addressed the crowd gathered on the Anfoin market square, 60 kilometers east of the capital Lomé. " The poll this Saturday [February 22] , the vote that you must make, it must be done to express your desire for change in Togo ," he said. We must vote for those who are fighting for this change to take place. You must vote for whoever is before you this evening, who is telling you about the change . ”

For these populations whose parents fought for independence, this discourse has a scent of nostalgia. " Mr. Fabre came to tell us tonight to vote overwhelmingly for him, so that he brings us back to the independence that Sylvanus Olympio brought us in 1960 ," says someone. And he also told us that Togo is going to restart again ”. With a requirement: " He will have 100% with us, but he must do everything this time to bring us the victory, " said someone else.

The campaign continues and all the candidates are present on the ground. Jean-Pierre Fabre ended the day in the Vo prefecture and was to continue the next day in Aného in the Lacs prefecture. In this city, the outgoing president Faure Gnassingbé , candidate for his re-election, paid an unexpected visit yesterday to this beach where the sea engulfs the coast every day a little more all the coastline, with a watchword: " Let things are going well, that it is a beautiful campaign like now, a peaceful process as we know it now and that in the end, the Togolese can express themselves. For me, this is the most important. It is our responsibility to organize good elections. Afterwards, everyone fights to obtain victory naturally as in all African countries. The biggest challenge for us is jobs . ”
