This was told by the head of the State Duma Committee on State Building and Legislation Pavel Krasheninnikov.

“In the new article 92.1, it is proposed to consolidate that the president of Russia, who has ceased to exercise his powers, has immunity. It is indicated that the former president may be deprived of his immunity in the manner prescribed by article 93 of the constitution to remove the incumbent head of state from office, ”TASS quoted him as saying.

According to him, at present, the relevant standards on immunity are enshrined in federal law.

“Thus, these norms become more stable, as they are transferred to the level of the constitution,” he stressed.

As for the amendment on the prime minister’s responsibility, article 113 proposes to fix that the chairman of the government “bears personal responsibility before the president for the exercise of the powers vested in the government,” RIA Novosti writes.

Earlier, a similar initiative on the immunity of former presidents was made by the chairman of the Union of Women Ekaterina Lakhova.

Later, the Kremlin noted that they would not yet formulate positions regarding a proposal.

On February 17, the deadline for submitting amendments to the presidential bill was extended to March 2.
