“In accordance with the European arrest warrant issued by France, Vinnik was extradited from Greece to France on January 23 this year only for the acts described in this warrant ... Any possible extradition to another country after the completion of the French court must be authorized by the Greek authorities, ”he quotes during a TASS briefing.
Earlier, Vinnik's mother sent a written appeal to French President Emmanuel Macron, in which he asked him to ensure an impartial and objective trial of her son.
On February 17, the Paris Court of Appeal left Vinnik in custody, rejecting the appeal of the defense.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said they would continue to demand the extradition of a Russian.
Alexander Vinnik was arrested in Greece in 2017 at the request of the United States, where he is accused of creating, without a license from the American authorities, a cryptocurrency exchange through which, according to Washington, billions of dollars were laundered.
