The prosecution opened, Tuesday, February 18, a judicial investigation against Piot Pavlenski and his partner, Alexandra de Taddeo. The two people, placed in police custody since Sunday, are suspected of being at the origin of the dissemination of videos of a sexual nature which pushed Benjamin Griveaux (LREM) to withdraw his candidacy for the City of Paris.

The prosecution said it requested the placement under judicial control of the Russian activist and his partner in the context of this investigation for "invasion of privacy by recording or transmitting the image of a person presenting a sexual character "and" distribution without the person's agreement of a recording (...) of a sexual nature ".

Piotr Pavlenki, political refugee in France since 2017, had claimed Friday the publication of the videos, ensuring wanting to denounce the "hypocrisy" of Benjamin Griveaux. The latter, who filed a complaint against X on Saturday, "used his family by posing as an icon for all fathers and husbands in Paris. He propagated traditional family values," he said.

Piotr Pavlenski is the target of a second judicial information, also opened Tuesday, for violence with a weapon and under the influence of drunkenness, we are told at the Paris prosecutor's office.

This second investigation, which motivated the arrest of Piotr Pavlenski on Saturday, relates to acts committed on the night of December 31, 2019 to January 1, 2020. The prosecution requested the placement of Piotr Pavlenski in pre-trial detention as part of this investigation .
