Published data on the absence of Buk air defense systems in the crash area of the Malaysian Boeing 777 following flight MH17 on July 17, 2014 in the skies over Ukraine prove that there are still many questions that are not answered. This was stated by spokesman for the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov.

“This once again indicates that there are still a huge number of questions. And the issues that most seriously cast doubt on a biased position that has already been voiced many times, ”he said.

Peskov added that Moscow is distrustful of conclusions drawn too hastily.

“We have always been skeptical and distrustful of hasty conclusions and hasty conclusions that are not based on a serious approach, and this information (about the absence of Bukov. - RT ) once again testifies to the correctness of the Russian side,” the presidential spokesman added.

Earlier, the platform for independent media Bonanza Media published, allegedly, a letter from the Netherlands special services dated September 21, 2016 - a week before the joint investigation team (SSG). The document says that in the area of the Boeing crash on July 17, 2014, there were no Russian or Ukrainian Buk complexes.

So, in the table there is an enumeration of the nearest systems. The Buk, located at a minimum distance, was 67 km from the crash site and belonged to Ukraine. At the same time, the range of the system, as indicated in Dutch intelligence, is 42 km. The closest Russian Buk was at all 106 km, according to the published document.

“From the table it follows that flight MH17 flew outside the reach of all known Ukrainian and Russian points where Buk-M1 systems were deployed,” the letter says.

At the same time, on September 28, the Joint Investigative Group said that the cause of the crash was a hit by a missile launched by the Buk complex. Moreover, international investigators claim that the complex allegedly belonged to Russia.

In this regard, if the letter really was, it can be said that the investigation ignored it, said Vladimir Olenchenko, senior researcher at the Center for European Studies of IMEMO RAS.

“I think it was taken into account, but was ignored. The fact is that at that time, if you look at the media and the speeches of a number of politicians - East European, Baltic, - all of them expressed very serious accusations against Russia. That is, at that moment the propaganda tension was important, ”he said in an interview with RT.

Bonanza Media was founded by former RT employee Jana Erlashova and Dutch journalist Max van der Werff, who are investigating the crash of the plane. They released several documentaries, two of which - “MH17: Year of Silence” and “MH17: Information for consideration” - was shot by Yerlashova while working on RT.

Such investigations suggest that there are journalists who are ready to work “contrary to the anti-Russian mainstream in the information field,” said Anton Morozov, member of the State Duma’s international affairs committee.

“Apparently, now it’s pointless to hide your head in the sand - the facts show that Russia is completely not involved in this incident. Moreover, we have done more than all other countries in order to establish the truth of what actually happened, conducted experiments. Therefore, I think that these statements are related to the fact that it is no longer possible to conceal (facts. - RT ) from the public, ”he told RT.

“The group went astray and took the wrong path”

The current international investigation team works on the basis of the political component, State Duma deputy Ruslan Balbek is convinced.

“The investigative team went astray and followed the false trail. Today, the investigation into the crash of Boeing is more likely in the political mainstream and the trend should be ignored by the facts provided by the Russian side, ”he said in an interview with RT.

Recall that to investigate the crash that claimed the lives of 298 people, a Joint Investigation Team was created. It included representatives from the Netherlands, Belgium, Australia, Malaysia and, despite the version of involvement in the crash, Ukraine.

According to the SSG version, based on publications on social networks, the Russian Buk was allegedly imported to the east of Ukraine through the territory of the DPR, and after the crash, the Boeing was taken back.

Russia also published its information about the crash. According to these data, on the basis of the SSG rocket that hit the plane, the responsibility for the crash lies with the Ukrainian side. The projectile was manufactured in 1986 (declassified documents of the manufacturer indicate this), after which it was sent to a unit located in Ukraine. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, it entered the Armed Forces of Ukraine along with all the ammunition, and when the conflict broke out in the east of the country, it was transferred to this territory.

However, the SSG does not take into account Russian data in the investigation. The Russian Federation has repeatedly made proposals for cooperation and information exchange, but almost always has been refused. In connection with this approach, Moscow states that the investigation by the group is biased and initially set itself the task of accusing Russia of disaster.

Malaysia is also skeptical of the findings of the investigation team. The authorities noted that charges were brought against Russia before the end of the investigation.

“Yes, we doubt it (Russia's involvement. - RT ). As an disinterested person, as an outside observer, I can say that some of the results of the investigation do not seem right to me, like many people in Malaysia, ”said Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad.
