15 January 2020 The 'Open Arms' humanitarian ship with 122 migrants on board arrived in the afternoon at the Nuremberg pier of Messina where to welcome them there were doctors of the ASP, volunteers, Red Cross and law enforcement. They were transferred to the first reception center of the former Gasparo barracks in Bisconte for identification pending another destination.

Among them two pregnant women, three families with children, including two-three month old babies, and a few years old children. Migrants, of sub-Saharan nationality, were rescued during two different interventions in the Mediterranean sea.
