On August 10 last year Philip Manshaus opened fire with a shotgun at the al-Noor mosque in Bærum outside the Norwegian capital Oslo.

The suspected shooter was overpowered by mosque visitors before anyone was seriously injured and could then be arrested by police. When police hit Manshaus's home, his 17-year-old step-sister was found dead.

Now the 22-year-old is being charged with murder and terrorist offenses.

- We will look into this and work until the trial, says the man's lawyer Unni Fries to the Norwegian NRK.

The lawyer did not talk to his client when the message came at noon on Monday.

Wanted to "kill as many as possible"

Philip Manshaus has admitted the documents but denies that he has committed a crime. He said in a police interview that the aim was to "kill as many people as possible". Before the deed, Manshaus had celebrated several mass shootings with right-wing motives.

The trial is scheduled to be held in May in Asker and Bærum district court.
