The Sharjah Criminal Court examined a case in which an elderly person of Asian nationality was accused of requesting a sum of money as a bribe in exchange for concluding a contract for a company, as he used his position in which he worked for a government agency in the emirate and asked the owner of a company for an amount of 100,000 dirhams to award a contract.

The details of the incident will be returned when a report was received stating that there is an employee working in a government agency in Sharjah requesting an amount of 100 thousand dirhams from a private company owner to conclude and award the contract to him. Accordingly, the accused was ambushed and seized and referred to the judiciary after investigating him for trial.

The court faced the accused with the charges attributed to him, and with his confessions contained in the investigations of the Public Prosecution. Request money from anyone.

He continued that the person who was offered the amount was putting him in a paper envelope, and made him see the money but he did not take it from him, indicating that he wanted to inform the police, but he did not have the opportunity because the police arrested him on the same day that the incident occurred.

The court decided to adjourn the case to the date of the first of March to call witnesses to hear their statements.
