The National People's Congress in China looks set to postpone its annual two-week conference, which would have been held in early March. It because of the corona eruption.

According to sources from the South China Morning Post, the Chinese leadership is worried that politicians will be infected by the virus.

Several events canceled

The political grand meeting is the latest of a long series of events set in the aftermath of the virus outbreak. A wide range of sporting events have been set in China. Including the Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix competition to be held in April. But it is not just in China that events are canceled.

The Mobile World Congress, the annual trade fair in the mobile phone industry, was canceled in Barcelona. That after several large companies, including Swedish Ericsson, announced that they are leaving the fair for fear of the virus.

Facebook has set up a large conference they would hold in San Francisco. Huawei has canceled a similar event. International Exhibition of Inventions in Switzerland, the world's largest trade fair focusing on new inventions, has been postponed until September.

Concern for the Olympics

At the same time, there is concern about what will happen with the Summer Olympics in Japan.

"We are extremely concerned that the spread of the virus will destroy the mood for the games," said Toshiro Muto, CEO of Japan's Olympic bet earlier this year.
The competitions start on July 24 but so far the organizers have said that everything will be arranged as planned.
