During the hearing in late January, the judge ruled that Vinnik should remain in custody. Lawyers have protested this decision.

Since January 23, Vinnik has been in France, where he was extradited from Greece.

The Foreign Ministry said that Moscow will seek the extradition of a Russian citizen.

Alexander Vinnik was arrested in Greece in 2017 at the request of the United States, where he is accused of creating, without a license from the American authorities, a cryptocurrency exchange through which, according to Washington, billions of dollars were laundered.
