"It becomes clear that we should listen to the children"

Since the turn of the year, the Convention on the Rights of the Child has been law in Sweden, which may have consequences for how the municipalities will work in the future.

In Eskilstuna you look at how the various activities can be affected. Sirpa Lindelöf, who is a developer at the municipality, has talked to politicians and managers what the law means.

- Now it is law but we must not forget that we have had the children's convention for 30 years so there should be no difficulties, she says.

But there are some concrete differences.

- Clarity and that we make the children more visible and that the children become rights bearers, says Sirpa Lindelöf.

Children should be taken into account in decisions that affect them or their environment indirectly or directly.

- The children may participate and decide, but they must not decide for themselves, says Sirpa Lindelöf.
