The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Anwar bin Muhammad Gargash, affirmed the position of the United Arab Emirates in support of the political solution to the Libyan crisis and appreciated in this context the German efforts across the Berlin track and considered it the only solution to achieve security and stability.

Gargash stressed in a speech before the first meeting of the International Follow-up Committee on Libya in Munich - that «the continuation of dialogue and communication between the Libyan parties, which includes the government, parliament and the national army and under the auspices of the United Nations, is extremely important to overcome existing differences and achieve stability and achievement A sustainable political settlement.

Gargash explained that "the urgent need for more concerted international efforts to urge all parties to dialogue and redouble their efforts to reach a permanent cessation of hostilities as a key factor for the resumption of the political process path," stressing the need to address the role of extremist and terrorist groups to ensure the sustainability of the solutions presented.

In his intervention, he expressed his deep concern over the undermining of international efforts due to regional interventions and the transfer of terrorist and mercenary elements from various conflict areas to Libyan territory.

Gargash stressed the UAE's support for the efforts of the United Nations Special Representative in Libya, Ghassan Salama, to create conditions for the resumption of the political process, expressing the hope that the meeting of the International Follow-up Committee will come out with "positive steps that serve the aspirations of the brotherly Libyan people."

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs stressed the importance of the international community's support for the outputs of the Berlin Conference and the efforts of the United Nations to reach a political solution through practical and serious steps that contribute to returning the situation back to normal.
