February 16, 2020 The first part of the removal operations of the Frecciarossa 1000 derailed at Ospedaletto Lodigiano is completed. The two wagons removed on Sunday will remain in the yard and Monday will recover with the removal of the other carriages. At the back of the area, a temporary warehouse has been created where the other wagons will be positioned one after another, while they will begin to remove them from the construction site only after they have all been taken away from the tracks of the High Speed line.

The operations to clear the tracks began at dawn on Sunday. In the afternoon the first wagon of the convoy was lifted and hoisted on an exceptional means of transport. The two maxi mobile cranes arrived at the construction site pulled the ropes and, in small movements, the wagon was raised in less than 5 minutes. The operations will continue according to the schedule foreseen by the recovery works.

The Frecciarossa 1000 derailed last February 6 in Ospedaletto Lodigiano, in the province of Lodi, in an accident that cost the lives of the two train drivers Giuseppe Cicciù and Mario Dicuonzo and which caused the injury of 31 passengers. The prosecution of Lodi continues the investigation on the matter. In the investigation, which has not yet ruled out human error in the accident, 5 maintenance workers were investigated for railway disaster, manslaughter and injuries, the RFI company for administrative responsibility and the CEO of Alstom Ferroviaria.
