A 22-year-old young woman was indicted for attempted murder of her partner in Orleans when, according to her, he allegedly subjected her to violence, we learned on Saturday from the city's prosecutor's office.

Spousal complaints of violence

The 28-year-old spouse was prescribed five days of ITT. When placed in police custody, the young woman claimed to have been subjected to violence in the past from her husband.

In March 2019, police went to the couple's home for an alleged altercation, but ultimately did not file a complaint. And in November, "she said there was an altercation while they were in separation, she filed a complaint but never produced a medical certificate," according to the prosecutor.

The defendant was charged with attempted murder by spouse and placed under judicial supervision, when the prosecution had requested placement in pre-trial detention. The man, who was taken into police custody and brought before a court, was placed under the status of assisted witness after the prosecution had requested a judicial review.
