Here is the list of countries and territories that have announced confirmed cases of disease due to the new coronavirus which has killed more than 1,500 people, including four outside mainland China, since its spread from the Chinese city of Wuhan where it appeared in December .

Outside mainland China where more than 66,000 people are infected, nearly 600 cases of contamination by the epidemic of the coronavirus, officially called Covid-19, have been confirmed in thirty countries with the first case reported in Africa.

- CHINA -

The death toll recorded in mainland China (excluding Hong Kong and Macao) since the start of the epidemic was 1.523 on Saturday, with more than 66,000 people infected.

Most of the deaths took place in Hubei province, home of the contagion, of which Wuhan is the capital.

This figure exceeds that of deaths from SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, atypical pneumonia) which killed 774 people worldwide in 2002-2003, including 349 in mainland China and 299 in Hong Kong.

- One person also died in Hong Kong where at least 56 cases have been recorded.

- Ten cases have been reported in Macao.

Japan: 52 cases, including one deceased octogenarian. And at least 285 aboard the liner Diamond Princess in quarantine at Yokohama, plus an infected quarantine officer.
