Strengthened by his acquittal to the impeachment process, Donald Trump now admits that he sent Rudy Giuliani to Ukraine to gather compromising information about Joe Biden, which he had always denied so far. And the president, consistently with the vindictive spirit, all the attack he has been showing since the acquittal, claims - in a podcast interview with Geraldo Rivera - that he had every right to do so.

"Giuliani, crime fighter"
"It was a strange thing to send Rudy Giuliani, your personal lawyer, to Ukraine, do you regret doing it?" Asked the Fox News reporter, a personal friend of the president. And Trump replied "absolutely not", praising Giuliani's role as a "crime fighter". "My choice was: to rely on the Comey of the world or Rudy," he added referring to the former FBI director he fired, to explain that having "a very negative impression" of the US intelligence community, due to Russiagate, he preferred to turn to Giuliani.

"I went to a lawyer. Like Roosevelt and Eisenhower"
"So when asked why I used Rudy - he continued - number one because he was one of the best prosecutors and the best mayor". And then he defended his choice by saying that other presidents also trusted their personal lawyers: "FDR had a lawyer who was practically involved in all government activities - he said referring to Franklin Delano Roosevelt - Eisenhower had a lawyer, all they had lawyers. "

He had denied, now claims
The fact is that up until now Trump had always denied having sent Giuliani: in November when asked if he had ordered his lawyer "to do something" in Ukraine, he replied: "no, I have not given him any order", however praising the former mayor as "a great fighter against corruption". Now, however, it claims and defends the decision to "use" Giuliani's services who, according to what several diplomats testified during the impeachment, have undermined the United States' policy towards Ukraine.
