A war between Bretons and Normans with emojis? While Brittany benefited from its own emoji on Twitter for several weeks, Normandy claims the same privilege from the social network, reports 76actu.

The regional council confirmed the project in a tweet on January 27. In response to a user, the Normandy Region announced that the creation of a special emoji was "in the pipes" with Twitter.

It is in the pipes, we will see that with @ TwitterFrance😉👌 But we would also need the craze of the Normans‌ So, for✅or against❌ a Norman flag emoji on #Twitter? Vote in response to this tweet to maybe see #Normandy in the spotlight on #Twitter đŸ€©

A hashtag #EmojiNormand

The project would be like what was done for Brittany from January 13 to February 9. During this period, the social network made available a Breton flag emoticon, the famous "Gwenn ha Du". This has been used 405,886 times in total. This test phase is supposed to prove the usefulness of a Breton emoji in the eyes of the Unicode consortium, which decides to add new emoticons every year.

These web giants must meet next April for the 2021 catalog. "We hope to have our emoji in 2021, it is now vital for the region to be present everywhere on the planet," said David Lesvenan, president of the BZH association, in 20 Minutes .

Enough to give ideas to the Norman neighbor. But for the operation to be a success, the Normandy region is counting on the mobilization of internet users through the hashtag #EmojiNormand. "It is with this type of enthusiasm that Brittany succeeded in obtaining a Breton emoji for four weeks," says the Region.
