13 February 2020From the first light of dawn, the Carabinieri of the Compagnia di Monterotondo are executing an order that arranges for the provisional detention in prison for 24 people, including 5 women, issued by the investigating magistrate of the Court of Rome, at the request of the Prosecutor of the Republic of Rome - District Anti-Mafia Directorate, belonging to a criminal organization dedicated to the illicit trafficking of narcotic substances, rooted in the municipalities of the hinterland north-east of Rome.

The investigations, conducted by the Carabinieri under the direction of the DDA of Rome, allowed to ascertain how the illegal activity was so flourishing that it brought about 90,000 Euros per month to the gang's coffers. The criminal group was so "fluid" to the point of being able to continue the drug dealing activity despite the flagrante arrests carried out by the Carabinieri against pusher, which were immediately replaced to give continuity to the street shop. The organization also resorted to a violent system of debt collection towards customers who did not pay: in fact, extortion episodes were reconstructed, even with firearms. Today is the seventh anti-drug operation of the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Rome in less than a month, with 123 people arrested at the conclusion of structured investigations, not to mention the daily arrests carried out by the military, in flagrante crime, throughout the territory of the capital and the province.
