February 13, 2020The management of the César Academy, the biggest recognition of French cinema, has "collectively resigned" 15 days after the annual ceremony, after the controversy surrounding the record nomination for director Roman Polanski, accused of sexual violence, and the alleged opacity of the institution's management.

On January 29th, Polanski's film "The Officer and the Spy" on the Dreyfus case dominated the nominations for the César 2020. The historical thriller is competing in 12 categories, ahead of Ladj Ly's "Les Misérables" , the banlieue film that shook France, and "La Belle époque" by Nicolas Bedos, both with 11 nominations.

The award ceremony is scheduled for February 28.
