Benjamin Griveaux (LREM) during the presentation of his project, Thursday, February 13. - SIPA PRESS

  • The candidate La République en Marche pour les municipaux à Paris, Benjamin Griveaux, presented this Thursday his program for the capital in the 17th arrondissement.
  • In front of a hundred supporters, Benjamin Griveaux thinned his measures. On the menu: safety, cleanliness, culture and help for seniors.
  • "People will tell me that our project is" at the same time ". I fully assume it. Parisians should not be defended only halfway, "he said on stage.

Police at the entrance, van parked, search and water bottle that remains at the feet of security guards. This Thursday morning, the brand new cinema 7 Batignolles (17th arrondissement) was under surveillance. Not for this little family who came to buy tickets for the 3:20 pm session of the Odyssey of Choum , but for Benjamin Griveaux. The LREM candidate for mayor of Paris held a meeting to present his project summarized in a 16-page booklet. On the menu: safety, cleanliness, environment, culture and help for seniors. And a watchword: "Together, let's breathe new life into Paris". All in very maritime jargon.

“If I believe what I hear from one or the other, the time is right for coalitions. I tell you, I do not do in the combination, because the coalitions of circumstance do not resist the strong tides. We need a collective solidly anchored on its values to hold the helm of the city of Paris ”, he detailed.

For more than an hour, the candidate shelled out “budgeted” proposals for Parisians, his “compass”, surrounded by his supporters and all his list leaders by district. "A municipal team that does not falter in the first test," said Benjamin Griveaux.

“Low on the asphalt and at the same time up to the task”

And if many of these proposals were already known, the third candidate in the polls took advantage of this meeting to respond to the attacks and to assume to be a candidate "flush with the road" with a project of "at the same time". "People will tell me that our project is" at the same time ". I fully assume it. Parisians should not be defended only halfway! And only "at the same time" makes it possible to forget no one and to put an end to the organized territorial war from the East against the West ", he explained before adding:" Security, cleanliness, environment: there is an emergency for Paris. Faced with these emergencies, you have to know how to be down-to-earth at the same time, level with the asphalt as I was kindly assigned this qualifier, and, at the same time, up to the task. "

“Paris deserves neither the disconnection nor the resignation of other candidates. If bedbugs make life impossible for Parisians, then you have to know how to find solutions. When one is mayor of Paris, there are no small matters (…) One does not have the right to give up when one is mayor of Paris ”, added Benjamin Griveaux again, to the applause.

Seniors, "Green Wednesday" and "street managers"

Regarding his proposals, the candidate repeated his desire for a “clean Paris in 100 days”, with the creation of “1,000 street managers” and to entrust the management of cleanliness to the mayors of the boroughs. He also wishes to "develop nursing home programs", and ensure "a respite of 10 days a year for family carers, by taking charge of the person assisted, at home or in a specialized establishment". He reiterated his commitment to the municipal police and to quadruple the number of cameras in the capital.

We also find in this program the famous 100,000 euros to help the purchase of real estate or the creation of a 30-hectare Central Park. The candidate also emphasized culture and spoke again of the four-day week for children with a "Green Wednesday" where "school children can go for a walk in the forest, visit a castle, discover a museum or an educational farm. " With a remarkable dumpling ...

"What can we offer extraordinary to Parisian children on Wednesdays when we have at hand a city with thousands of treasures?" If I ask you: Who went to visit the Carnavalet museum in the past year? He asked the audience. Some people raise their hands. But the Carnavalet museum (4th arrondissement) has been closed for three years for renovation. Luckily, for the candidate (and the public) the museum will reopen its doors very soon.
