With the spread of the new Corona virus and the high number of deaths and injuries in China, Shanghai has become more like a ghost town, as pictures and video clips showed how its crowded streets turned into empty streets and how the pace of life became slow.

The movement in the economic capital of China, with a population of more than 24 million, has become almost idle, and the French magazine "Le Nouval Observatory" monitored in a report published on Wednesday how Shanghai became before and after the spread of the Coruna virus.

The reporter, Louis Morris, said that, not long ago, the Bond center was teeming with tourists who come to contemplate the Pearl of the Orient tower located in the heart of the financial center in Shanghai, while subway cars were crowded with passengers, and the streets were full of pedestrians and cars.

But this scene was before the city was overwhelmed by the spread of the Coruna virus, the face of Shanghai had completely changed, the streets were almost deserted and the subway cars were almost empty.

To reduce the spread of infection, city officials are forcing residents to wear masks in public.

According to the French magazine report, since last Monday, car traffic witnessed a slight increase, but it is still very far from the usual traffic jams.

In offices, the city council advises those who come to work to avoid gatherings of employees by adopting overlapping schedules, and advises to avoid eating meals among colleagues who must maintain a distance of at least one meter between them.

These transformations come at a time when the Chinese economy is still largely paralyzed, despite a timid resumption of work since the beginning of the week, as the authorities were keen to encourage employees to work from home.

It is noteworthy that the Chinese authorities took strict precautions in Shanghai, and officials said that those who do not have proof of their stay or work in the city will be prevented from entering it.

Preventative measurements
The Beijing Daily reported that the authorities in the Chinese capital have strengthened preventive measures in residential communities, and implemented a "strict registration system" to monitor movements in the city, in addition to organizing patrols consisting of volunteers to implement strict measures and establish entry and exit points.
