Villeurbanne (Elite) announced Wednesday that they have loaned French international back Edwin Jackson (30) to the Spanish club Estudiantes Madrid until the end of the season.

The defending French champion club acceded to the request of the player who, dissatisfied with his playing time, expressed the wish to join a club in which he had already played during the 2016/17 season.

This decision comes three days after Edwin Jackson expressed his frustration in an interview with the regional daily Le Progrès.

"I didn't come back to Asvel to play five minutes per game," he said.

"And I'm not going to say that I am living an idyllic season. For me it cannot continue like that," added the man who had been voted best French player in the championship in 2013.

Returned last summer to his training club where he signed a four-year contract, after four seasons abroad (Spain, China, Montenegro), Edwin Jackson has so far been quite successful in the Championship (11.9 points in 17 matches), but struggling in Euroleague where he has a starving address (5.8 points to 27% on shots including 9.8% to three points).

By joining Estudiantes Madrid, the red lantern of the Spanish championship, Edwin Jackson finds a club in which he had shone during the 2016/17 season, finishing top scorer in the championship with 21.4 points per game.
