It is noted that the photo-documentary project “Commanders of the Victory: the Liberators of Europe” is dedicated to outstanding Soviet military leaders whose fronts and armies liberated Europe 75 years ago from the “brown plague” - Nazi invaders.

The ministry emphasizes that a selection of photographs, most of which are published in the public domain for the first time, tells about the various events of the final stage of the war: about military commander’s everyday life, about the participation of military leaders in parades in liberated cities, about minutes of rest, meetings with allies and representatives of saved peoples .

The photographs also testify to the reaction of Europeans to the liberators: friendliness, openness, sincere gratitude to the Soviet soldiers for the freedom gained in the fierce battles with fascism.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense published declassified documents for the 75th anniversary of the Yalta Conference.
