Guinea has been the scene of protests since mid-October, which have left at least 29 dead - 28 civilians and a gendarme - against the project long lent to the president, elected in 2010 and reelected in 2015, to seek to run for a third term in 2020. The current Constitution limits the number of presidential terms to two and the opposition suspects that the new text will serve Alpha Condé, 81, as a pretext to reset his presidential counter to zero.

Questioned on this constitutional reform by France 24 and RFI, President Alpha Condé deplores the treatment reserved for Guinea on this plan: "I do not understand, there are many countries which changed their Constitution and it passed like a letter to the post, when it comes to Guinea, as Alpha Condé is an independent man who has his outspokenness, maybe that annoys a lot of people ".

Regarding a possible candidacy for the next presidential election, he does not exclude anything and relies on his party, the RPG (Rally of the People of Guinea): "That is the party that will decide, this is not is not a man who presents himself, it is the party who presents. The parties are free ".
