The plenary session of the European Parliament has accepted on Monday a change in the agenda of its plenary session to include a debate on the meeting between the Vice President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez , and the Minister of Transport, José Luis Ábalos, a few days ago at the airport Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suárez and ask the European Commission to clarify whether this meeting was a violation of the sanctions that the EU imposed on several senior officials of the Nicolás Maduro regime, including its vice president.

The modification has been promoted by the MEP of Jordi Cañas Citizens and approved by the plenary with 189 votes in favor, 159 against and 10 abstentions. The debate will take place this Tuesday afternoon.

European liberals, a group to which Citizens belong, have backed Cañas to present this petition, which has also been supported by the European People's Party . The European Socialists and Democrats voted against it because it is not an issue on which the European Parliament should rule.
