Said Bouteflika will be fine in prison. The brother of ousted president Abdelaziz Bouteflik was sentenced on appeal, Monday, February 10, to 15 years in prison by a military court for conspiracy against the army and the state. Two former Algerian intelligence chiefs were convicted alongside him.

"Saïd Bouteflika, General (Athmane) Tartag and General (Mohamed Lamine) Mediene have had 15 years in prison. The first verdict has been confirmed," Boudjemaâ Guechir, lawyer for the fourth co-accused, told AFP trial, Louisa Hanoune, general secretary of the Workers' Party (PT, Trotskyist).

The latter, sentenced at first instance to 15 years' imprisonment, saw her sentence reduced to three years in prison, including nine months firm, and "will be released," said Boudjemaâ Guechir.
