The deputy called the comment of the former Polish leader ironic, noting that in this case words of condemnation of the policy pursued by official Warsaw would have been more appropriate.

Poland’s accusations against Russia regarding the outcome of World War II are an attempt to “belittle” the achievements of the Red Army, Belik believes.

“What Jablonsky says is an insult to the sacrifice made by the Soviet and Polish peoples 75 years ago ... On the eve of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory, our overseas partners really want to belittle the contribution of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers to the defeat of Nazi Germany” - added the deputy.

The parliamentarian noted that "a sensible statement by the ex-president of Poland will not cause any response in the political circles of Warsaw."

Earlier, Walesa assessed claims against Russia for reparations.

According to him, it’s the same as if he “began to demand that his young years be returned to him.”
