February 9, 2020 The Italian proposal revising and updating the 2017 bilateral Memorandum for cooperation in the field of migration has been sent to the Libyan authorities today. To make it known is the Farnesina with a note.

The text introduces significant innovations to guarantee more extensive protection for migrants, asylum seekers and in particular for vulnerable people victims of irregular trafficking that crosses Libya and to promote management of the migratory phenomenon in full compliance with the principles of the Geneva Convention and other international human rights law. In Italian intentions, this objective must also be achieved through the consolidation of the action of the United Nations Organizations, in particular UNHCR and IOM, in Libya.
