The death toll from the Corona virus in China rose to 727, and the number of infected people exceeded 34,000, at a time when the US embassy in China confirmed the death of its first citizen in Wuhan with the virus that arrived in Japan.

And the Chinese health authorities announced today, Saturday, that the new Corona virus has infected more than 34,000, of whom 722 people have died.

This new number represents an increase of 86 new deaths within 24 hours, in the largest daily toll to date.

China is struggling to control the epidemic, and has taken strict measures to close down entire cities and prevent their residents from leaving their homes unless necessary.

It is believed that the virus first appeared in late December 2019 in Wuhan, in the wild animal market, and spread rapidly with a massive population movement for the Lunar New Year holiday in January, and it prompted the World Health Organization to declare a global emergency.

For its part, the US embassy in Beijing announced Saturday the death of an American (60 years) who was infected with the corona virus emerging in Wuhan, the epicenter of the disease, marking the first confirmed death of a foreigner in the city with the disease.

The US State Department said that this week it had facilitated the transportation of about 18 tons of medical supplies to China, including masks, respirators and other vital medical equipment.

Health departments in four of the ten US states - whose airports are examining passengers to discover Corona - said that no people have been quarantined since the new travel rules came into effect on February 2 after the first case of HIV was discovered in the United States on January 20 / January.

Only New York State announced that four people were quarantined because of their previous travels.

Foreigners who visited China within 14 days, the external incubation period of the virus, are prohibited from entering the United States.

In Japan, the Ministry of Health announced the discovery of three new cases of coronavirus among the passengers of the "Diamond Princess" ship, which is quarantined off the port of Yokohama, with about 3700 passengers on board. This brings the number of casualties on board this ship to 64.

In this context, Hong Kong imposed a health quarantine for two weeks on all arrivals from China, in a strict precautionary measure aimed at curbing the outbreak of the Corona epidemic.

Under the procedure, which came into effect on Saturday, every Chinese mainland expatriate must isolate himself for two weeks at his home, hotel or any other place he chooses. The authorities will be able to monitor the extent of his respect for this stone by calling him daily and visiting him suddenly, otherwise he will be under six months' imprisonment.

The new measure is not limited to arrivals directly from "mainland China", but also includes everyone who comes to Hong Kong from any country, and has visited China during the past two weeks.

The authorities recruited volunteers from government officials and students to make daily monitoring calls, and to make unannounced visits to quarantined people.
