Create nests for wild bees

Create habitats for the wild bees and hops where the females can lay their eggs. So-called bi-batteries or bi-hotels can be simple housing of hollow bamboo that you hang in a bush. An upside down clay pot with moss and grass can also serve as a home for a hops.

Plant plants with lots of nectar

Spices like thyme and rosemary attract pollinators. Mix summer and autumn flowers so that there is food throughout the season. Hawthorns, hawks, honeysuckle and schersmin are bees' favorites among the bushes. Sun hat, mint, lavender and sage are popular perennials. Poppies, rams, tobacco and mallows can be attractive annual flowers.

Stop cleaning

Many weeds are popular among bees, such as thistles and balding. Leave dandelions and clover leaves in the lawn. Save old trees and stumps that can become homes for the pollinators. Leave a corner of the garden debris and undisturbed to create a protected environment for bees and hops.

Plant a wild meadow

Meadows contain a variety of flowers with nectar and pollen. Bumblebees especially like pea plants that are rich in protein, such as carrion tooth, vetch and vials.

Single-flowering plants such as daisies provide a good runway and make the nectar more easily accessible.

Buy a share of a hive

Buy yourself in a part of a hive and get jars of honey back. You can follow how the cups change weight in real time. On some days, a bee community can increase 10 kg.

Make a butterfly discount

Plant a fragrant butterfly discount with butterfly bush, martorn and love herb and you will at the same time enjoy the beautiful amirals, blue wings and lemon butterflies. Let a secluded and sunny corner of the garden become a nursery for butterfly larvae. Blooming weeds provide early food for hungry butterflies that have wintered.

Get a bird bath
