The events took place late Wednesday afternoon, at nightfall. A man in his forties fell in the Ill in Strasbourg, near the Paris quay near Les Halles. Despite more than an hour of search by the firefighters, the body was not found and the searches were stopped, says in a report the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service of Bas-Rhin (SDIS 67) .
A witness would have seen the person staggering on the muddy bank before falling, said a police source. Witnesses reportedly followed the victim who fell into the water, but he disappeared at the Saverne bridge. As of Thursday morning, the body has still not been found.
