They are still "shocked" by what happened on Thursday January 30. That day, when high school students blocked Guist'hau high school to challenge the holding of continuous exams (E3C) of the new baccalaureate, the police intervened in a muscular manner to free access to the classrooms. A week after the incidents, more than 200 people organized a human chain around this establishment in downtown Nantes on Thursday evening.

High school students but also teachers and parents of students met. All denounce the “disproportionate use of force” and demand the “right to peacefully challenge the reform of the bac”.

"Immediately repressive method"

“The police arrived with large means, helmets, shields, facing young people who were demonstrating but had no desire to fight. There was no dialogue. The method was immediately very repressive, with many tear gas. Nobody understood, ”says Ludovic, a teacher of geo-history in high school. "It should not happen again every time in high schools that mobilize, says Arthur, high school student. We protest for us, because this reform is unfair and requires a permanent cramming from the 1st, but also for future high school students. "

In response to criticism, the departmental director of public security recalls that the intervention of the police "is only done on explicit request of the chief
of establishment ”. "With regard specifically to the Lycée Guist'hau, the requisition
been renewed several times on the 17 Rescue Police, "he adds.

The first session of the common tests (modern languages, history geography, mathematics in the technological path) of the new bac has been contested in many French high schools since January. Degradation incidents sometimes occur, such as Jean-Perrin (Rezé) and Bourdonnières (Nantes) high schools this week.
