The 30-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of a series of violent robberies in Österlen, including that of Count Carl Piper, has notoriously committed theft and fraud.

As late as January 2, he was conditionally released from prison.

That punishment was about having taken out a loan of SEK 50,000 in a woman's name. When she said she would report him to the police, he threatened the woman with being "in the mafia".

After five months of imprisonment, he was released on a conditional basis. Eleven days later, the first robbery was committed in Trelleborg, closely followed by three more serious robberies in Österlen, which the man is now suspected of for probable reasons.

Sentenced several times for theft and fraud

The suspect's criminal record contains nearly 30 items. As recently as December last year, a verdict against him was set at three months in prison after he stole a piece of art by the glass artist Bertil Vallien from a hotel lobby in Lund.

In 2015, the man was convicted of nearly 50 cases of serious fraud and counterfeiting. The sentence was three years in prison.

But with one year left on the sentence, he was released on condition. Ten days later he continued with crime.

These include theft, illegal driving, drug offenses and continued fraud.

Denies crime

The man was arrested on Monday on suspicion of several violent Österlen robberies. He denies all crimes.

An 18-year-old woman is also arrested on suspicion of several robberies in Österlen.

Robbery has been a major topic of conversation in Österlen lately. See more in the clip.
