The seal is an animal that many professional fishermen are tired of. According to the Jägarforbundet, there are now almost 100,000 seals along the Swedish coast.

But the number of hunters is the fewer, according to the Jägarförbund there are barely a hundred sales owners left.

- There are a few hunters who devote themselves to this, says Per Risberg.

Last year, 28 seals were felled in the county, the allocated quota was 60 seals. According to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, it looks the same in the rest of the country.

Many professional fishermen who have their fishing nets reinforced or fish eaten by seals can receive compensation from the County Administrative Board. According to Tomas Stenström, who works as a county fishing consultant on the County Administrative Board in Sörmland, it is very common for fishermen to want compensation.

- Almost everyone usually comes in and claim the compensation for damages, like no one gives up, he says.

According to him, as a professional angler, you must be able to show what damage the seal caused.

- They say that the seals cause major damage and that they may use other tools to get away, but that doesn't always help. This is clearly a problem, he says.
