Israeli planes hit Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday morning in response to projectile fire and incendiary balloon launch into Israeli territory, the military said. "Fighter planes have targeted targets of the terrorist organization Hamas in the southern Gaza Strip," including "a weapons manufacturing site," the IDF said in a statement.

No information on possible victims in the Gaza Strip has been given. Before the strikes, militiamen launched three projectiles from Gaza and a number of "explosive balloons" into southern Israel, the army said. Neither medical sources nor the police have reported casualties or damage on the Israeli side.

Voltage boost

Since President Donald Trump's announcement last week of his plan to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, rockets and mortar shells have been fired and explosive bombs have been launched almost daily from the Gaza Strip to the Israeli territory, resulting in responses from the Israeli army.

The Palestinians categorically reject the American plan, which they consider as heavily favoring Israel.
