A landslide affects the RN116 - Prefecture of the Pyrénées-Orientales

A road in the Pyrénées-Orientales, the RN 116, is in the grip of an impressive landslide, which has led the prefecture to close traffic, in the Montée du Pallat, before the village of Sauto Fetges, near the Spanish border.

A few days ago, already, a few hundred meters away, this very popular axis of the department had been the victim of another ground movement.

The damage on the RN 116 has evolved since yesterday. The ground movement is still in progress. Expertises are continuing. Deviations by:

"These movements are reflected in the appearance of open cracks and a subsidence of almost fifteen centimeters on the upstream side of the road, says the prefecture of the Pyrenees-Orientales. The site of the landslide was evacuated as a precaution, because the movements are evolving and observable with the naked eye. "

These landslides are the result of heavy precipitation, which affected the departments of Pyrénées-Orientales and Aude in January.
