Former skating champion Sarah Abitbol will soon be received by Brigitte Macron to discuss her book Un si long silence in which she accuses her former trainer, Gilles Beyer, of raping her when she was aged 15 to 17 years. The meeting will take place "this week" between the wife of the head of state and the skater who sent her book on Friday, telling her "that she wanted to see her to tell her story", according to the entourage of the first lady.

In this book, the former French champion of couple figure skating, European and world multi-medalist, denounces facts which would have occurred between 1990 to 1992, a period in principle covered by prescription, when she was aged 15 to 17 years old. The Paris prosecution nevertheless opened an investigation on Tuesday for rape and sexual assault on minors.

A commitment from Brigitte Macron

Since 2017, Brigitte Macron has been contacted several times on subjects relating to child protection. She has already received several heads of associations in this field. The most recent, the former rugby player Sébastien Boueilh, founder of the association "Colossus with feet of clay" which raises awareness of the risks of pedocriminality, especially in sport.
