An investigation was opened into rape and sexual assault on minors after recent accusations that rocked the skating scene.

While recent accusations of sexual assault, notably revealed by the Team and the Obs, have rocked the sport environment and especially that of skating, a preliminary investigation has been opened for rape and sexual assault on minors, per person having authority over the victim, particularly to the detriment of former figure skating champion Sarah Abitbol.

Last week, four skaters testified in the press about three different attackers, trainers in the years 1970 to 1990. The figure of French figure skating Sarah Abitbol accuses her ex-trainer Gilles Beyer of rape and sexual assault in particular 1990 to 1992. "Beyond the facts mentioned" in the book of the former skater, published last week, in which she accuses her ex-trainer Gilles Beyer of having raped her, "the investigations (...) will endeavor to identify any other victims who may have suffered, in the context described, similar offenses, "said prosecutor Rémy Heitz in a press release.
