04 February 2020 The caucuses have started in Iowa, the small rural state of the Midwest where traditionally the primary dem for the nomination to the White House start.

1,678 the 'precintus caucus' distributed in 99 counties: These are schools, libraries, churches, offices, gyms and other public places where people gather to discuss and choose their candidate. Ten Democratic candidates running this year.

For the first time, 87 satellite caucuses have been added to increase participation, including 25 in other US states and three abroad (France, Scotland and Georgia). The caucuses were opened at 19 local time (two in the morning in Italy), the results should be known in a few hours.

According to a poll conducted by the Associated Press in Iowa, democratic voters are calling for a radical change in the political system in America. Two thirds of dem voters are in favor of a candidate who transforms the functioning of Washington.

The two priorities identified are health and climate change. Eight out of ten voters are furious with the Trump administration, and eight out of ten believe that the most important thing is a party candidate who can beat Sanders.

At the same time as the democratic caucuses, the Republican party primaries were held in Iowa. A merely formal act, since Donald Trump's candidacy has never been in question. Obviously the incumbent president won; two minor candidates opposed him: former congressman Joe Walsh and former Massachusetts governor Bill Weld.
