Citizens of high school graduates who participated in the open day for employment and resettlement in Ajman, organized by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation in cooperation with the Al-Futtaim - IKEA group, stressed that there are four major obstacles and challenges facing them to obtain employment in the private sector in the country, namely: weak salaries Offered, long-term, distance from their residence, and language request as a prerequisite.

Almost 90 citizens participated in the open employment day’s activities, competing for 116 vacant jobs in the retail sector, presented by Al-Futtaim Group - IKEA, where they conducted two successive interviews to nominate them for the positions offered for employment, in line with their experiences and educational qualifications, whether holders of high school diplomas, diplomas, bachelors and masters.

The director of the Happiness Service Center of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation in Ajman, Noura Al-Suwaidi, confirmed to «Emirates Today» that the number of people who applied for jobs offered by Al-Futtaim Group approached 90 citizens, indicating the majority of the applicants were female.

She continued that the jobs are numerous and are suitable for males and females, divided into administrative, technical and specialized, including data entry and public relations, sales manager, specialist, treasurer, customer service and health and safety specialist, head of the merchandise team, graphic designer, exhibits specialist, workshop coordinator, food and beverage manager, and storekeeper Financial manager, human resources specialist, marketing specialist and information technology coordinator.

Al-Suwaidi pointed out that the interviews started at eight thirty after receiving the applications, and ended with the end of the work hours at the center, noting that Al-Futtaim Group conducted interviews with all applicants, some applications were approved, and others will be considered and contact with their owners to conduct final interviews for employment .

The open day for employment, organized by the Ministry at the Happiness Service Center in Ajman, witnessed a large presence of male and female citizens, as they arrived to register and present their identity cards and CVs about half an hour before the opening day of the employment day, whose activities started at eight in the morning and extended until three in the afternoon , So that they can view CVs for job interviews with Al-Futtaim Group representatives.

Citizens looking for work praised the good organization of the event, and the mechanism for conducting job interviews that took place in stages in both Arabic and English, and assured «Emirates Today» that such activities create opportunities for them that are no longer available in the government sector, due to the lack of vacancies, indicating that some jobs The proposition suits them because her salary is good and contains health insurance and tickets for travel, some of which do not match their educational, social and economic levels.

Female citizens of secondary school graduates and residents of the northern regions (Khawla Youssef, Fatima Ali, Hiba Al-Dhanhani and Aisha Rashid) said that there are many obstacles that stand in front of them to obtain jobs in the private sector, including weak salaries that hardly cover their expenses and the long distance and distance of companies from their homes, As the majority of the available jobs are in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and the English language has become a prerequisite for employment, and the long-term that is not commensurate with their social conditions, indicating that the majority of salaries in the private sector do not exceed 10 thousand dirhams, as they met many private companies and made offers for them The work of her salaries does not exceed 7000 dirhams.

While a number of citizens from secondary school holders who conducted interviews preferred not to publish their names, those who interviewed them asked them for the availability of an element of expertise, wondering about the period of experience that a citizen must have to apply for a job as a data entry assistant for example, demanding that the requirement of experience be avoided, Especially since the largest percentage of the qualifications required for high school positions.

Attracting young citizens

Al-Futtaim Group emphasized that it seeks to attract young citizens, considering that the resettlement of the private sector is an essential pillar to support the national economy, pointing out that there are about 116 vacancies for citizens in the group in Sharjah branch, and that salaries start from 10 thousand to 25 thousand dirhams.
