Artificial intelligence would revolutionize health care in the region of Skåne and Västra Götaland, after a procurement worth around SEK 1 billion.

But on Friday, a press release from Region Skåne suddenly came out announcing that all cooperation with the supplier in question had been discontinued, after SVT reviewed the deal and showed that it may have been settled in advance.

The Västra Götaland region authorized the Skåne region to manage the procurement also on their behalf, where the contract is worth about 600 million over eight years.

Do not want to comment at this time

The digital health care tool would help healthcare professionals with regard to diagnosis and treatment, and would be introduced at all publicly owned health centers in Skåne and Västra Götaland.

SVT's Assignment Review now reveals that the procurement is suspected to be rigged and that employees in Region Skåne should have helped the relevant company with sensitive information prior to the procurement.

Region Skåne has now stopped all cooperation with the supplier with immediate effect. In the Västra Götaland region, a meeting was held on Monday to decide how to ask the question.

- No one can comment before the meeting is over, says Gabriel Holmqvist, press secretary for the region.

"Must cancel"

Alf Jönsson, Regional Director of Region Skåne has previously told SVT that it is incumbent on its taxpayers to act quickly on this issue.

- Just a suspicion that the procurement has not gone right means that we have to cancel, he says.
