  • XIV Legislature Pablo Iglesias: from the great displacement to the King to the blue bench in four years

New encounter between Vox and the PSOE, and once again on account of the sites in the Congress of Deputies. The parliamentarians of the Santiago Abascal party have tried to snatch the first row of their bench from the socialists, the one behind the blue banks occupied by Pedro Sánchez and the main members of the Government, to attend the solemn opening session of the XIV Legislature chaired by the King. Finally, after a tense tug of war between representatives of the two parties, those of Vox have risen and gone to their usual seats.

This episode repeats the war of the sites that Vox has already given on two other occasions that the seats were freely assigned, when it wanted to occupy the seats traditionally used by the PSOE or by Citizens in each constitutive session of the Congress.

Like those two times, the Vox deputies have risen early and arrived at the Hemicycle with timeframe. That's when instead of addressing the seats that are officially assigned, which are mostly located in the chicken coop despite being the third force of the Congress, a dozen of the deputies have occupied the first row of the PSOE bench . Just as many others had occupied the front row of the central bench, taking part of the site to the PNV and United We can.

The socialist José Zaragoza has been the first to realize and try to persuade Vox to leave. Then the main leaders of the Socialist Parliamentary Group have arrived, with Adriana Lastra, Rafael Simancas or Felipe Sicilia in the lead. Together with other PSOE deputies they have challenged Vox deputies by standing in front of them and turning their backs on them.

This has been a few minutes until Vox parliamentary spokesman Iván Espinosa de los Monteros has moved to the area to mediate. It is when he has given the order to his colleagues to get up and give the seats to the deputies of the PSOE. What they have been doing little by little.

Vox sources deny that they have starred in any incident and maintain that in a session like today "seats are not assigned" and, therefore, "each deputy or senator sits wherever he wants or can." In this sense, from Vox they defend that they had sat in those seats because those attributed to their party had been "occupied by deputies and senators of the PP". "The deputies of Vox who have seen their seat occupied have sat in the area they have seen empty," said these sources.

On the encounter with the PSOE, it is noted that "out of respect for the King and not to star in any incident in a solemn session like this, the Vox deputies have relocated to other places."
