The Chinese city of Wenzhou (east) imposed Sunday the containment of its more than 9 million inhabitants and drastically restricts car traffic, thus taking the most radical measures outside the epicenter of the new coronavirus. With 265 cases of contamination, Wenzhou (pronounced Wenn-djo), is one of the cities in China most affected by the epidemic of viral pneumonia.
Residents are now obliged to stay at home. Only one person per household is allowed to go out once every two days to shop, local authorities said. Wenzhou is more than 800 km from Wuhan, the city in the center of the country where the coronavirus appeared in December and which was de facto quarantined on January 23.

The Chinese central bank announced on Sunday that it would inject 1.2 trillion yuan (156 billion euros) to support an economy hit by the epidemic of viral pneumonia. The deal will take place on Monday when Chinese financial markets reopen after the long Lunar New Year holiday, which has been extended due to the new coronavirus.
In a press release, the issuing institute explains that the intervention will serve to maintain "reasonable and abundant liquidity" for the banking system as well as the stability of the foreign exchange market. The bank had already announced on Saturday a series of measures in favor of credit to companies which contribute to fight against the epidemic of coronavirus.
According to the latest figures, almost 14,500 people have been infected with the new coronavirus. The number of deaths now stands at 305, including 304 in China.
9:34 a.m .: First death outside of China
The Philippines reported the first death outside China of a person infected with the new coronavirus on Sunday, the World Health Organization (WHO) said. The victim is a 44-year-old Chinese man from the city of Wuhan, where the virus emerged, and is believed to have been infected before arriving in the Philippines. Even though this is the first death outside of China, "we must keep in mind that this is not a case that has been locally infected. This patient came from the epicenter of this epidemic, ”said Rabindra Abeyasinghe, WHO representative in the Philippines
The man, who died in a hospital in Manila, arrived in the Philippines with a 38-year-old Chinese woman who also tested positive for the virus, said Secretary of State for Health Francisco Duque. This woman, currently recovering in a hospital, was the first case of coronavirus identified in the Philippines.
