Algeria and Tunisia proposed today to host meetings between the Libyan parties in Tunisia or Algeria, and Algerian President Abdel Majid Taboun stressed today, when meeting in the capital Algiers with his Tunisian counterpart, Qais Saeed, that the solution to the Libyan crisis should be pure Libyan.

The Algerian president added that he agreed with the Tunisian president - who is making his first official visit since he took office three months ago - that the solution to the Libyan crisis must be Libyan, and that the country should be removed from everything that is foreign.

"Tunisia and Algeria want the solution to be met with meetings in Tunisia or Algeria, to start a new stage in Libya by building new institutions and holding elections," Taboun said. However, the Algerian president added, "provided that this proposal is accepted by those who currently control the Libyan decision, not inside Libya, but abroad, be it the United Nations or European countries."

Libya, the neighbor of Algeria and Tunisia, suffers from armed conflict, as retired Major General Khalifa Haftar of the National Accord Government - internationally recognized - is fighting for legitimacy and authority.

In the file of the Palestinian issue, Taboun stressed the agreement of the two countries' positions on the Palestinian issue by rejecting the American peace plan, and affirming that the solution lies in an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital.

Algerian deposit
For his part, the Tunisian president affirmed that the two countries agreed to work jointly to develop bilateral cooperation by finding new tools, and the Algerian president stated that his country would place a deposit of 150 million dollars with the Tunisian Central Bank to help Tunisia meet the current economic difficulties, and Algeria would continue to grant its eastern neighbor facilities to pay Late receipts for Algerian natural gas exports.

The Algerian President expressed his intention to visit Tunisia soon after the inauguration of the new Tunisian government, to discuss cooperation between the two countries.

For his part, the Tunisian President said that "there is complete understanding and congruence in all issues, because there can only be congruence in the views and approaches on all issues, because we have a brother-to-brother relationship."
