“Let's pray, work, so that God is mentioned in our basic law,” he said.
The patriarch noted that most Russians believe in God. He stressed that "he speaks of the Orthodox, Muslims and many, many others."
“If the anthem can be“ God’s protected native land, ”why can’t this be said in our Constitution?” Added Patriarch Kirill.
He also expressed the view that “today we could start a discussion about this.”
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Patriarch Kirill on the 11th anniversary of intronization.
