Alain Fontanel, first deputy mayor of Strasbourg and LREM candidate for municipal elections. - G. Varela / 20 Minutes

In Strasbourg as elsewhere, the public meetings organized by the LREM candidates are regularly disturbed by demonstrators against the pension reform.

The wishes of candidate Alain Fontanel, in the Alsatian capital, were no exception to the rule. The facts took place Thursday evening in the market hall of Neudorf.

"Alain Fontanel, we're here, we're here! "

Activists close to the extreme left and some anarchists interrupted the speech of candidate LREM with shouts of "For pensions, how do we do it?" ". "Alain Fontanel, we're here, we're here! ".

"We knew that the information circulated on social networks in groups of the far left and yellow vests," said the candidate's entourage to 20 Minutes . Security agents quickly intervened to evacuate the demonstrators. Three of them then attacked them, according to the police. One of the security guards allegedly received a spray of tear gas.

The security company has complained of willful violence. The three demonstrators were placed in police custody before being released on Friday. Thirty demonstrators gathered in front of the Strasbourg police station to support these three people.

In a press release, the inter-union CGT-FSU-Solidaires denounces a "brutal evacuation" and condemns "arbitrary arrests". The investigation is ongoing.
