Region Östergötland and Region Kalmar state that, at present, there are not enough resources at all childbirth clinics to receive more start-ups.

- More inductions [ startups, please note ] will greatly increase the load on the delivery departments, responds Region Östergötland's press secretary Bodil Knuthammar.

Expect 200 more startups per year

Several regions state that they will begin to follow today's recommendations even before there are compelling guidelines.

In Värmland, staffing will be strengthened as early as next week. The region expects that the number of startups will increase by about 200 per year.

- It's one more every other day. We anticipate that there may be days when it is congested during childbirth and that partners cannot remain at night if the woman has not started the labor, ”explains Anna Hessel, Head of Operations at Kvinnosickvården in Värmland.

Several regions already underway

Dalarna, Uppsala and Gävleborg have already started with earlier start-ups.

- We have chosen to change our routines even though the national guidelines have not yet come. We believe we have the capacity and our neighboring regions, Uppsala and Dalarna have started deliveries from week 41. We cannot justify why we should do otherwise, says Johanna Belachew, operations manager for women's health care in Gävleborg Region.

Gävleborg expects 300 additional commissions per year. They will adapt the business to the national guidelines.

Blekinge, Västernorrland and Stockholm regions already have the routine that all mothers come to assess immediately after week 41.

- We have not had any fetal death after week 41 for several years. We believe that this is because we have been good at screening risk patients with the help of our routine control, responds Máté Bollobás, chief physician, Kvinnokliniken, Karlskrona.
