Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and King of Jordan Abdullah II have expressed their support for Palestinian rights, while Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will go to Cairo in light of protests in Jordan and Lebanon over the American peace plan.

Erdogan confirmed - in a telephone conversation with Abbas - his country's position in support of the Palestinian issue and rejecting the peace plan announced by US President Donald Trump.

The Turkish President said that there is nothing in the peace plan for the Palestinian people, and that it is totally biased towards Israel and consecrates the occupation, which is a continuation of this Israeli colonialism.

He added that Turkey will coordinate with the Palestinians on all the steps that they will take, and that the foreign minister will attend a meeting convened by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation next week.

In this context as well, Abdullah II affirmed the kingdom's "firm position" on the Palestinian issue, and stood by the Palestinians in establishing their independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital in accordance with the two-state solution.

According to a statement issued by the Royal Court, Abdullah II confirmed, during a telephone conversation with Abbas, that "Jordan will continue to strive to achieve a comprehensive and just peace that the peoples of the region are satisfied with, in accordance with international legitimacy."

The King of Jordan added that he would go in close coordination with the Palestinian and Arab brothers and work with the international community to deal with the next stage.

On Tuesday, the US President announced from Washington - alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu - his plan granting Israeli sovereignty over most of the West Bank settlements and the Jordan Valley, while recognizing that Jerusalem is "an indivisible capital" for Israel.

Today, the Palestinian President arrived in Cairo to participate in the emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers, which will be held at the headquarters of the Arab League on Saturday, at the request of Palestine to discuss the so-called American "Deal of the Century".

The Palestinians hope that the Arabs will announce a clear position to confront the alleged American peace plan, according to Nabil Shaath, the Palestinian President's special representative.

For his part, Ali Sistani denounced Trump's plan and said, "The religious authority strongly condemns the unjust plan recently revealed to give (legitimacy) to the occupation of more usurped Palestinian lands."

Popular anger
On the popular level, demonstrators in the Jordanian capital, Amman, governorates and camps, expressed their anger at the American peace plan, and demanded the formation of a crisis government to face new challenges and cancel the peace and gas agreements with Israel.

In the center of Amman, about three thousand people participated in a demonstration that started in front of Al-Husseini Mosque, amid a heavy security presence, according to photographers told Agence France-Presse.

Participants carried banners that read: "Jordan rejects the deal of the century, the deal of the century is dropped" in addition to Jordanian and Palestinian flags. The participants burned the flag of Israel amid the chants of "Death to Israel, this approach and no change, we want to burn Israel."

Among the chants are: "Listen, damned Trump ... It is not for sale Palestine, Jordan and Palestine are one people, not two peoples" in addition to "We die and long live Palestine."

In Lebanon, Palestinian refugee camps witnessed popular movements under the title "Friday of Rage", in opposition to the American peace plan.

The Palestinian factions organized a sit-in after the Friday prayers in the Burj al-Barajneh camp in Beirut's southern suburb, where participants condemned the American plan, affirming their adherence to the right to return to their homes.

Hundreds of Palestinians also participated in popular marches and sit-ins in refugee camps in northern and southern Lebanon, where they chanted slogans condemning what they described as the Arab and international silence towards violating the rights of the Palestinian people.
