January 30, 2020 In December 2019, the unemployment rate in Italy was stable at 9.8%, the same level as in November. Istat notes this. And the rate for young people (15-24 years) remains unchanged, compared to the previous month, at 28.9%.

In the last month of the year, the workers return to decline: permanent employees (-75 thousand), that is those who have a permanent job, go down, with a change of course. Indipendents also fall (-16 thousand), while there is an increase among temporary workers (+ 17 thousand).

New historical high as regards precarious workers, which increase by 17 thousand units, reaching 3 million 123 thousand.

Eurostat: unemployment at its lowest in the euro area
Unemployment at lows from 2008 to December in the euro area. Eurostat points out, according to which the unemployment rate in the eurozone stood at 7.4% in December. In November the unemployment rate was 7.5%, while in December 2018 it was 7.8%. Among the 19 countries in the area, Germany and the Netherlands recorded the lowest unemployment rate (3.2%) , while the highest rates are confirmed those of Greece and Spain. In the 28 EU countries, the unemployment rate stood at 6.2% in December, down from 6.3% in November.
