On January 16, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a bill establishing the standard volume of training in state language for state, municipal and corporate institutions. From September 2020, Russian-language schools should switch to Ukrainian. According to the document, for representatives of national minorities whose languages ​​are not official in the EU, at least 80% of the annual training in basic and specialized secondary education programs will be conducted in the state language.

For those whose languages ​​are official in the EU, learning in state language when receiving basic secondary education will take at least 20% of the annual volume per year in the fifth grade with an increase to 40% or more in the ninth grade, profile secondary education - at least 60% of the educational time per year.

In Ukraine, it was stated that teachers of Russian-language schools will take advanced training courses in preparation for the transition to teaching Ukrainian.
